Match Day: Youth Football for Cohesion
A friendly tournament brought young people from three neighbourhoods together - competition on the pitch, conversation off it.
Sport opens doors that meetings cannot. We organised a one-day round-robin for under-17 teams from three adjoining communities. Coaches set one rule: every squad had to mix players who had never played together before.
The football was sharp - quick transitions, loud sidelines - but the point was what happened afterwards: a shared meal, a short talk on staying in school, and team photos that are already on bedroom walls.
We will repeat it next term with a girls' fixture.
